Somebody threw what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail through the window of a Lexington home, igniting a fire inside Monday evening.
Fire department officials say a homemade explosive device came crashing through the window and burst into flames inside a house on Thames Drive, off Armstrong Mill Road, around 6:45 p.m. A neighbor said she saw the whole thing and heard an explosion.
“I saw a man running toward the house, and he lit a bottle and threw it at the front window, and it engulfed in flames,” she said. “And I started screaming, ‘Call 911,” and I tried to chase him, but I didn’t have any luck with that. But we were able to get the two people in the house and their dog out before the fire department got there.”
EMS took that neighbor to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Police continue the search for the suspect, but they say they only got a vague description of the man.
